It’s October! So that means it’s time for The Swally Spooktacular! We are kicking off this year’s Spooktacular with a film from 1973 starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Diana Dors and Keith Baron, Nothing But The Night. Three trustees of the Van Traylen fund have died during the last few months in deaths looking like suicides. However, after a mysterious bus accident involving three other trustees and thirty orphan kids, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing start investigating.
In the news a practical joke involving some crips goes wrong for one Glasgow man, we find an unexpected item in departures at Glasgow airport, we meet a smuggler who ran away and we also try out the latest water feature in Aberdeen.

The end of the world as we know it? Nah, lets have a dance to the Fine Young Cannibals as we look at the 2008 film, from director Neil Marshall, Doomsday.
When a lethal virus spreads throughout Scotland, infecting millions and killing hundreds of thousands. To contain the threat, acting authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. Three decades later, the Reaper virus violently resurfaces in London. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair, is urgently dispatched into Scotland to retrieve a cure by any means necessary.

Back in May 2023 on episode 74 we looked at the first series of the adaptation of the Denise Mina novel The Field of Blood. So I thought it was time to look at the second and final series of the show.
Released in 2013, series two is set in 1984, two years after the events of the first series. Set against a backdrop of the miners’ strike and the changing face of 1980s journalism, Paddy Meehan now has her dream job as a news reporter working alongside George McVie. But all this changes with the arrival of new Editor-in-Chief, a no-nonsense woman in a man’s world, determined to bring the newspaper into the modern age - against editor Murray Devlin’s wishes.
